Property Shoot Preparation Checklist

Following this pre-shoot checklist will help ensure that your home is photographed quickly, efficiently, and with the best possible results

Interior:

  • Replace any burnt lightbulbs and ensure all bulbs are the same color temperature
  • Hide any sensitive, personal or identifiable information
  • Declutter and put away shoes, clothing, pet items, toys, etc.
  • When possible, arrange the furniture in a way to maximize space
  • Clean appliances and remove all items from countertops and kitchen sink 
  • Remove all items from the refrigerator, including pictures and magnets
  • Straighten the dining table and push in all chairs
  • Hide clothes, robes and towels in bathrooms (color coordinated towels OK)
  • Remove all personal items from bathroom vanities, bath tubs and showers
  • Make beds, organize pillows, straighten picture frames/artwork, etc.
  • Clean mirrors, glass or any other reflective surfaces

Exterior:

  • Remove vehicles from driveway and away from the front of the home
  • Place garbage bins inside the garage or out of sight
  • Organize deck and backyard furniture

Before photographer arrives:

  • Turn ON all lights in the house
  • Open (or adjust in the same way) all blinds and window treatments 
  • Turn off all TVs, computer screens, and ceiling fans
  • Put all toilet lids down
  • Make sure pets are out of the home or kept out of the photographer’s way
